Ditch hat-head this winter!

King Winter is finally here. FINALLY! Thank you for making the days brighter and all of us happier!

There is a million women wearing hats and only some of them look good. As I looked around, I realized the hats were cute, the women were cute, but these ladies' manes were not working out. Because yes, it freaking matters how your hair looks under a hat. And the good news? It doesn't take much effort to do this right.

It's all about balance.
If you're rocking a beanie, big loose waves are the way to go. Think about it: If you're wearing something close to your head, super straight, sleek hair will make you look like a Q-Tip.
Adding some loose waves will balance the snug-fitting topper. Keyword here is loose. No date night stuff.
Nothing looks more ridiculous than jeans and a beanie with an over-done 'do, right? Plus, if your hair already has a bunch of body, you won't have super-flat hair when you pull off your hat.

If you're working it in a wide brimmed hat, go for mostly straight hair with just a little bit of movement--like round-brush blow out or brushed-out waves at most. Since the big floppy hat is so wide, major waves would make your head look wider. Avoid hat head by spraying roots with a volume powder before heading out.

Curl your hair on Sunday, rock a beanie running errands. Then, brush out the curls Monday AM and throw on a big floppy hat with some wide legged jeans and platform booties.
